Indian Media Claim: Delhi Bombing Suspect Flees to Afghanistan
Indian media reported that Muzaffar Ahmed Rater, the main suspect in the recent deadly bombing near Delhi’s Red Fort, has links with an active operational cell in Afghanistan and a Pakistani coordinator. Rater, identified as a key figure in the network, fled to Afghanistan from Dubai after his brother was arrested by Indian police.
On Monday, November 10, a car exploded near the Red Fort, killing at least 13 people and injuring 20 others. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. According to CNN-News18, Rater used encrypted communication tools to transfer funds, coordinate logistics, and maintain contact between the operational team in India and their Pakistani handler, reportedly operating from Afghanistan.
Reports also indicate that Rater traveled to Afghanistan to facilitate communication between terrorist cells in Kashmir and jihadist groups based in Afghanistan, issuing operational instructions from there. The De Prent newspaper reported that in 2022, Rater traveled to Istanbul with his associates to meet an individual linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammed network, allegedly based in Afghanistan. Indian police sources described Rater as an “ambitious ideologue” who had long expressed support for the Taliban regime. The Indian government, which has recently strengthened relations with the Taliban, has yet to comment on the perpetrators of this attack.
