Iran on the Brink of a New Explosion? Kurdish Armed Groups Signal Readiness for Widespread Operations.
According to a report by the Associated Press (AP), several Kurdish armed groups opposed to the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran say they are prepared to confront Tehran and are waiting for a large-scale uprising across the country.
Sources within these groups say that recent regional developments and the ongoing conflict in the Middle East have prompted them to increase their level of military readiness.
The report says that some leaders of these groups have spoken about contacts and discussions with officials in the United States and Israel. According to them, these interactions have encouraged them to more seriously consider the possibility of confronting the Iranian government and to prepare for scenarios involving large-scale attacks or operations against Iranian forces.
However, the groups have emphasized that any major military move would depend on internal developments in Iran and the potential emergence of widespread protests or an uprising within the country.
Other sources say the United States or Israel may possibly consider funding or financially supporting these armed groups, although such support has not been officially confirmed. The Iranian government considers these groups “terrorist organizations” and in recent years has repeatedly targeted their bases in border areas of Iraq with missile and drone strikes.
