Iran Reportedly Urges National Resistance Front to Halt Attacks on the Taliban.

Informed sources say the Islamic Republic of Iran has warned the National Resistance Front (NRF) of Afghanistan to refrain from carrying out attacks against the Taliban.

According to the sources, Iranian officials told members of the NRF that any continuation of military operations against the Taliban would face Tehran’s opposition. They reportedly stressed that “firing at the Taliban is equivalent to firing at us.”

The sources claim that these warnings have intensified alongside the expansion of political and security relations between Tehran and the Taliban. They further allege that Iranian officials informed NRF members that if regional conditions change and potential agreements between Iran and the United States move forward, Tehran could eventually move toward formally recognizing the Taliban administration.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that Iran has imposed new restrictions on former Afghan military personnel residing in the country.

According to the sources, Tehran is concerned that these former security personnel could join anti-Taliban resistance groups. As a result, travel restrictions have reportedly been imposed on a number of them.

The reports come as the National Resistance Front has recently announced an increase in its military operations and attacks against Taliban forces across Afghanistan.
