Jamiat-e-Islami: UN to stop Taliban’s plunder of Afghanistan’s national resources

Jamiat-e-Islami, the branch of Atta Mohammad Noor, has issued a statement calling on the UN to take immediate action to stop the Taliban’s “scooping of national resources.”

In the statement, released on Friday, May 16, the Taliban are accused of widespread human rights violations, arbitrary mining, and creating social and political crises.

Jamiat-e-Islami has warned that the unregulated exploitation of mines in Badakhshan and Takhar provinces, without supervision and with the involvement of companies from the southern regions, could lead to an escalation of ethnic tensions and local dissatisfaction.

The party has emphasized that natural resources belong to all Afghans and that any extraction contract in the absence of a legitimate government has no legal validity.

Jamiat-e-Islami has called on international institutions to prevent the continuation of this process by seriously monitoring the mining process in Afghanistan.
