Public sources reported that at least seven addicts have died in a Taliban prison in Kandahar province due to violence by this group.
According to these sources, the bodies of these victims have been in the hospital morgue for more than 20 months and have not yet been handed over to their families.
While the Taliban have remained silent on the matter so far, reports of the killing of addicts and their violent treatment by this group had been published earlier.
These incidents come at a time when human rights organizations have repeatedly warned of widespread violations of citizens’ rights and the worsening human rights situation after the Taliban’s return to power.
