In a joint statement issued after their recent meeting in Budapest, the leaders of the Organization of Turkic-speaking Countries mentioned the role of Turkic ethnic groups in Afghanistan as a bridge between Afghanistan and its members.
The statement, released on Friday 2025 May 23, said that Afghanistan’s Turks are part of the country’s ethnic heritage and should not be seen as a minority among other ethnic groups.
The Organization of Turkic-speaking countries has called for the rights of all ethnic groups in Afghanistan, the establishment of an inclusive government, improved human rights and security in the country, and has supported efforts to fight drugs.
The statement also stressed the continued humanitarian assistance of the international community and the development of joint economic projects such as TAPI and CASA-1000 with Afghanistan.
