Local Sources: Taliban Deputy Governor Calls Chah Ab Residents’ Disobedience “Rebellion,” Threatens Punishment and Imprisonment.
According to local sources and eyewitness accounts in Chah Ab district of Takhar province, Mullah Nader Haqjo, the Taliban’s deputy governor of Takhar, traveled to the district at the head of a delegation.
Sources say that instead of expressing sympathy with the families of those killed in recent incidents, he spoke to local residents in a threatening manner and warned that any opposition or disobedience toward the “Islamic government” would be considered rebellion and would result in punishment and imprisonment.
Local sources report that the delegation also included Haji Malang, a powerful figure in Chah Ab who has been accused of mafia-related activities.
The presence of such individuals alongside Taliban officials has increased public concern about the influence of local power networks in security decisions and enforcement.
These developments come as, in recent days, several violent clashes have occurred between local residents and gold mining companies, which sources say operate with Taliban support.
According to local reports confirmed by eyewitnesses, Taliban forces directly fired on civilians during these clashes, resulting in several deaths and leaving a number of families bereaved fueling widespread anger and dissatisfaction among the people of Chah Ab.
