Massive Explosion in the Heart of Takhar; Taliban Ranger Destroyed.
According to local sources, a powerful explosion shook the center of Taloqan around 2:30 PM on Thursday, 19 February 2026.
Sources say a Ranger vehicle belonging to Abu Mohammad, son of a well-known Taliban commander in Takhar, was targeted by a planted bomb at a central city intersection.
Local sources confirm that at least seven people, including two Taliban members, were seriously injured. The Ranger vehicle was completely destroyed.
Sources note that the explosion caused temporary chaos and widespread fear in the city center.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack and the Taliban have remained silent.
Sources warn that continued targeted attacks may indicate escalating insecurity or hidden rivalries among Taliban factions in northern Afghanistan.
