Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said on Saturday that Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the group’s leader, had made new changes in the leadership of a number of Taliban departments.

Mullah Shir Mohammad Sharif, who previously served as the head of the Taliban’s interior ministry’s border police, has been appointed as the new Taliban governor of Zabul province, the statement said.

Following the relocation, Maulvi Hezbullah Afghan, the former governor of Zabul, has been appointed as the chief of the Taliban’s border police. In the new changes, Mullah Jan Mohammad Hamza, the Takhar police chief, has been appointed as the Taliban’s agriculture, irrigation and livestock department in Kabul.

Meanwhile, Maulvi Obaidullah, who previously headed the Taliban’s agriculture department in Kabul, has been appointed as the group’s head of enjoining good in Balkh province.

Maulvi Saifullah, the former Taliban intelligence chief in Sar-i-Pul province, has also been appointed as the commissioner of the Hairan port in Balkh.
