The Taliban Foreign Ministry says that Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting minister, spoke by phone with Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiar Saidov about expanding bilateral relations and cooperation.

The Foreign Ministry’s statement said that the call took place on Sunday, November 1, and the two sides discussed strengthening economic cooperation and the regional situation.

In the conversation, Muttaqi emphasized diplomacy and mutual understanding, saying that the Taliban wants relations based on mutual respect and non-interference with neighboring countries.

The Uzbek Foreign Minister also considered regional stability a shared responsibility of countries and said that his country supports economic cooperation and mutual trust between countries.

The conversation took place at a time when tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan have increased over border attacks and support for armed groups.
