Mysterious Shooting of a Young Woman in Kabul.
Local sources in Kabul City reported that on Monday, 5 January 2026, at approximately 9:45 a.m. local time, a young woman was shot in front of the Taliban-controlled Ministry of Finance building, near the former Presidential Palace (Arg).
The incident created a tense atmosphere in the surrounding area.
Eyewitnesses said a young man fired multiple shots at the woman before fleeing the scene. The victim was transported to a hospital in critical condition and reportedly remains in a coma.
The identity of the attacker and the motive behind the shooting remain unknown.
The Taliban have not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
This event comes amid reports of increasing violence and harassment against women and girls since the Taliban regained control in August 2021, raising significant domestic and international concern.
