One-hour gunfight in Waghaz district of Ghazni.
Local sources have reported an armed clash in Waghaz district of Ghazni province.
According to sources, the sound of light and heavy weapons was heard from the “Waziristanis’ town” area for about an hour last night.
Following this incident, the road leading to the district center and several surrounding villages was blocked for several hours, and traffic in the area was stopped.
Sources say the reason for the shooting is still unclear and no group or official has yet commented on the matter.
Last year, Waghaz district was one of the areas where the Taliban had established several towns to house Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) fighters.
There were also reports of the presence of al-Qaeda members in parts of Ghazni province.
