Pakistan warns: Global isolation of the Afghan Taliban could lead to its collapse.
Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Pakistan’s Defense Minister, warned that recent tensions between the Afghan Taliban and Islamabad could push the Taliban into complete global isolation, ultimately leading to the group’s collapse. He stated that regional countries seeking stability may intervene if the crisis continues.
Asif noted that Pakistan, following the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan in 2021, has held multiple meetings in an effort to establish peaceful relations, but has seen no positive change in the Taliban’s approach. He added that Islamabad has achieved no concrete results from these engagements.
These remarks come after Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid accused Pakistan of carrying out airstrikes in Khost, allegedly killing 10 civilians. The Pakistani military rejected the claim, stating that it had conducted no operations in Afghan territory.
