Pakistani Defense Minister: Terrorist infiltration from Afghanistan must be stopped

Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said on Friday, 31 October 2025, that relations between Islamabad and Kabul would not return to normal until the Taliban administration stopped supporting the Pakistani Taliban.

He added that a number of TTP members had taken refuge in Afghanistan and their infiltration into Pakistani territory should be stopped.

“Peaceful relations with our neighbors are only possible when support for the Pakistani Taliban is completely ended,” the defense minister said.

Asif also stressed that terrorist infiltration from Afghanistan continues and until this situation changes, it will not be possible to implement any agreement between the two countries.

“Pakistan’s biggest demand is to stop terrorist infiltration from Afghanistan,” he added.

The comments came as Taliban Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani said at a meeting in Kabul on Thursday, 30 October 2025, that the issue of the Pakistani Taliban was an “internal Pakistani issue” and should be resolved within the country.

He added that the Taliban do not have extensive military facilities such as tanks, artillery and aircraft, but are determined to defend the country against any foreign aggression and countries should learn from the fate of the Soviet Union, NATO and the United States.
