People in Faryab bid farewell to beloved poet Mohammad Alam Kohkan.
Today, the funeral prayer ceremony for Mohammad Alam Kohkan, a famous poet and cultural figure of Afghanistan, was held in Faryab province with the presence of thousands of citizens.
The body of the late Kohkan was transferred to Afghanistan from the United States on Monday.
He had been battling cancer for nearly four years, but finally passed away at the age of 63.
Today’s ceremony was attended by his relatives, friends, educators and a large number of his admirers, who expressed their sorrow over this great loss.
Mohammad Alam Kohkan was active in the literary, cultural and scientific fields for more than three decades and left behind valuable works, especially in his native Uzbek language.
He has always praised the language, culture and history of his people in his poems.
According to his will, his body was buried in his hometown in a village in Faryab province.
