Premature Explosion in Kunduz; Security Situation Concerned. Warning Against Participating in Buzkashi.
This morning (Friday, October 7, 2025), at around 7:30 AM, a suicide bomber was killed in the eighth district of Kunduz city as a result of a premature explosion of his explosives before reaching his intended target.
According to Jumauddin Khaksar, spokesman for the Kunduz Police Command, security forces arrived at the scene after the explosion and it was determined that the attacker had lost his life due to a premature explosion while transporting explosives.
Local sources say that a Buzkashi competition was to be held in the same area and it is possible that the main target of this failed attack was the participants and spectators of this sporting event.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and security forces are investigating to clarify the details and motive of the attacker.
This incident occurs at a time when the security situation in the northeastern provinces of the country remains worrying, contrary to the Taliban’s claims.
Local sources warn that the risk of suicide attacks at public gatherings, including Buzkashi gatherings, remains high and citizens should exercise caution when attending these events.
This incident is the first reported suicide bombing using materials embedded in the attacker’s body after four years of Taliban rule in Afghanistan.
