Rahman Oghly: Targeted transfer of Pashtuns to the north threatens social and ethnic security

Following the spread of reactions to the systematic settlement of Pashtun and Waziristan migrants in the Northern provinces, Sardar Mohammad Rahman Oghly, former Afghan ambassador to Ukraine, has warned of the worrying consequences of this process.

Rahman Oghly considered this Taliban policy a targeted attempt to change the demographic makeup of non-Pashtun-populated areas and emphasized that such measures not only undermine ethnic coexistence, but also pose a direct threat to social security and regional stability.

He said: “Pashtunization and transfer of Pashtuns and terrorists to the north will have bad consequences.”

Meanwhile, the Taliban, by reviving the “Nizam-e-Naqalin” of the Amanullah Khan era, is implementing a plan to settle thousands of Pashtun families, especially Waziristan migrants, in the Northern provinces; this is being done at the same time as the distribution of fertile land to the newcomers.

This process has raised deep concerns among the indigenous peoples of these provinces, especially the Uzbeks who make up the majority of the population in these areas.

Many analysts believe that such demographic changes could sow the seeds of ethnic conflict and long-term instability in these areas.
