The Supreme Council of Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan claims that the trail of assassinations targeting Taliban opponents in Iran leads to the Taliban’s embassy in Tehran and its consulate in Mashhad.

Hussain Yasa, the council’s spokesperson, said intelligence obtained by the group shows that four individuals entered Iran approximately one and a half months earlier, officially crossing from Afghanistan with the explicit purpose of carrying out assassinations.

According to Yasa, these individuals completed the operational phases of their mission during this period, carried out the attacks, and then returned to Afghanistan.

He said the council’s information indicates the operations were pre-planned and executed step by step, calling for a serious and transparent investigation by Iranian authorities.

Despite expectations that Iranian police would announce the results of their investigation on Sunday, no information has been released so far. Earlier, Tehran Governor Hossein Khosh-Eghbal said investigations into the assassination of former Afghan police commander General Akramuddin Sari were ongoing and that conclusions would be announced, but Tehran police have yet to publish an official report.
