Return Equals Death; Former Soldier Assassinated in Kapisa After Expulsion from Iran.
Local sources in Kapisa province report the targeted assassination of Nabiullah Ahmadi, a former soldier and former chief bodyguard of Engineer Mir Haider Afzali, a former representative of the province, by Taliban operatives.
The killing occurred last night in the Mahmood Raqi area, the provincial center of Kapisa, and represents a new example of the Taliban’s systematic elimination of forces associated with the previous regime.
Despite claims of a “general amnesty,” this policy continues unabated.
According to sources, Nabiullah Ahmadi fled to Iran after the fall of the republic and lived there for nearly three years.
However, in September of this year, he was expelled from Iran.
Upon his forced return to Afghanistan, he worked as a driver on the Kapisa–Kabul route to earn a living.
Local sources confirm that last night his vehicle was stopped in the Rigrowan area by armed Taliban members and he was shot dead directly, without any legal process.
Sources also report that the Taliban threatened Ahmadi’s family to prevent them from speaking to the media.
This action demonstrates an apparent effort to conceal the reality of the killing.
This assassination once again proves that the Taliban, through threats, disappearances, and direct killings, are actively clearing former soldiers and creating a climate of fear for returnees from neighboring countries.
This situation places the lives of thousands of former personnel at serious risk.
