Russian Drone Shipments to Iran: Moscow’s First Direct Military Support.
According to a report by the Financial Times, citing Western intelligence sources, Russia is preparing to send its first shipments of support to Iran.
These shipments are said to include drones, medical supplies, and food. Preparations reportedly began in early March 2026, with completion expected by the end of the same month, although no official confirmation of the details has been released.
It is reported that confidential negotiations between senior officials in Tehran and Moscow began just days after the onset of United States and Israeli attacks on Iran.
Previously, Moscow had supported Iran by providing satellite imagery, targeting data, and intelligence assistance. However, the delivery of military equipment such as drones would signal a new level of military cooperation.
In response to these reports, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov dismissed them as fake news, emphasizing that the only confirmed matter is the continuation of political dialogue between the two countries.
Nevertheless, some Western sources believe that Moscow has acted to strengthen Iran’s military capabilities and maintain its political stability an action that, if confirmed, could lead to more severe and far-reaching regional and international consequences.
