Salahuddin Rabbani Creates the First Major Rift Among Taliban Opponents.
The Jamiat-e-Islami party, led by Salahuddin Rabbani, has officially announced the end of its membership in the National High Council of Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan.
The decision, published in a formal statement, marks the first major withdrawal of a political party from the Council in recent months.
The Council had originally been established to form a unified and coherent political front aimed at promoting political struggle and the rule of law.
According to the statement, the Resistance Council has deviated from its original mission, with much of its recent activity focused on forming inconsistent and fragmented alliances.
The party argues that these actions contradict national interests and the principles of democracy and rule of law, resembling the failed political experiences of the past. As a result, Jamiat-e-Islami has chosen to formally end its membership.
The party emphasized that it will continue its political struggle for liberating the country from its current dire situation through independent and appropriate mechanisms.
Its withdrawal is expected to significantly affect the cohesion and coordination among Taliban opposition groups and highlights the challenges in forming a unified and strategic front.
