Secret trip of senior Taliban official to India; talks or deal?

Indian media outlet The Guardian reported that Mohammad Ibrahim Sadr, the Taliban’s deputy interior minister for security, recently traveled to New Delhi in secret.

According to The Guardian, the purpose of the trip is still unclear, but speculation has been rife about behind-the-scenes talks on border security, counterterrorism cooperation, or secret agreements.

Sadr, who is known to be close to the Taliban leader and Iranian security agencies, arrived in India after tensions between Pakistan and India increased and tourists were killed in Kashmir.

Indian and Taliban officials have so far remained silent on the matter. Some analysts see the trip as a sign of internal divisions within the Taliban and new turns in regional politics.
