Serious Heroin Trafficking Allegations Against Jumaa Khan Fateh, Self-Proclaimed Taliban Emir in Badakhshan.
During its visit to Kabul, the Tajikistan government delegation handed over documented evidence to the Taliban, indicating that a man named Jumaa Khan Fateh, who claims to be the “Emir of the Taliban in Badakhshan,” is accused of managing a large-scale drug trafficking network along the Afghanistan–Tajikistan border.
According to informed sources, the documents show that these activities are organized and cross-border. The sources confirmed that, based on this evidence, Jumaa Fateh transported heroin shipments to Tajikistan in exchange for importing alcoholic beverages into northern Afghan provinces for distribution.
It is reported that other individuals and networks are also involved in this illicit trade, raising concerns about the expansion of organized crime and weakening security controls in border areas.
These developments occur amid a significant deterioration in security along the Afghanistan–Tajikistan border in recent months. Recently, four Taliban members engaged in smuggling and illegal border crossings were killed by Tajik forces. Previous security incidents that resulted in the deaths of several Chinese citizens in border areas have drawn special attention from the governments of China and Tajikistan.
Meanwhile, some sources had previously reported that Jumaa Khan Fateh was injured by forces under his own command, further complicating the security situation in the region.
