Six people were arrested in Samangan in connection with the murder of the head of the Khorram Sarbagh People’s Council.

Local sources in Samangan confirmed that six people, including three members of the intelligence service and one from the Taliban police command, were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the murder of Akbar Niazi, the head of the Khorram Sarbagh district people’s council.

According to reports, Akbar Niazi was kidnapped from his home in Aibek city three weeks ago by armed men who identified themselves as members of the Taliban’s intelligence service.

Two days after the incident, his body was handed over to his family from Aibek Central Hospital.

Now, sources say that the investigation into the case is ongoing and there is a possibility that more people will be arrested. The Taliban have not yet officially commented on the matter.
