Sources Close to Mawlawi Qanit Report His Release.
Mawlawi Abdul Qadir Qanit, a religious scholar and outspoken critic of the Taliban government, has been released after a period of detention.
Sources close to him state that he has returned to his family following his release, but his health condition is not satisfactory. So far, the Taliban have not issued any official statement regarding his release.
Mawlawi Qanit is known as a justice-seeking figure and a strong critic of what he describes as the un-Islamic practices of the Taliban. His positions on social and religious issues have earned him support from parts of society and religious scholars, giving him a notable standing among the public.
Previously, he had been detained multiple times by Taliban intelligence forces in Kabul and transferred to detention facilities without any formal charges. This action is considered another example of the suppression of critics and the violation of principles of transparency and justice under Taliban rule.
