Sources: With the Official Declaration of War Between Pakistan and the Taliban, the Conflict Has Entered a New Phase.
Amid an unprecedented escalation of tensions, the Taliban spokesperson announced that Pakistani fighter jets bombed at least five Afghan provinces on Friday.
According to him, areas in the provinces of Paktika, Paktia, Khost, Kunar, and other locations came under aerial attack.
Attacks that, according to the Taliban, were extensive in scope and carried out simultaneously with ongoing border clashes.
These developments indicate that tensions have moved beyond sporadic border skirmishes. And have entered a rare and intensified phase.
In response, the Taliban announced the launch of retaliatory attacks against Pakistani military targets, including in border areas of Nangarhar and Kunar. The group also claimed to have targeted military centers inside Pakistani territory.
Islamabad, while confirming aerial operations, accused the Taliban of initiating the escalation. It spoke of a “decisive response.”
The exchange of fire and reciprocal attacks have severely inflamed the regional security environment.
Both sides claim to have inflicted heavy casualties and damage on one another. However, no precise or independently verified figures have been released so far.
Local sources report rising concern in border regions. Reports also indicate continued military alert on both sides of the frontier.
Analysts warn that continuation of this trajectory could expand the conflict beyond border areas.
As rhetoric intensifies on both sides, fears are growing that the confrontation could evolve into a broader regional crisis.
