Suspicion Surrounds Death of 17-Year-Old Bride; Taliban Block Autopsy
The Taliban have declared the cause of death of Farkhunda, a 17-year-old newlywed bride, as “stroke”—a claim that local sources say was made without any medical examination or referral to forensic medicine. According to sources, her body was buried only a few hours after her death, without being taken for legal and medical investigation.
Reports indicate that Farkhunda’s family intended to send her body to forensic medicine to determine the real cause of death, but her father-in-law, Haji Ehsanullah—known as Haji Malang—along with his sons, prevented the transfer by issuing threats. Sources say the burial took place without the presence of the girl’s father and without following legal procedures. The Taliban also announced “stroke” as the cause of death without providing any official medical documentation, while the family has not yet commented on the cause of death.
The immediate burial, prevention of forensic examination, and the Taliban’s hasty announcement have raised serious questions about the circumstances surrounding Farkhunda’s death. Local sources believe the Taliban’s handling of the case suggests intentional concealment and efforts to prevent the truth from being uncovered.
