Tajik Midwife Killed in Kunduz.

A Tajik midwife was reportedly killed after being attacked by unidentified individuals in Imam Sahib District of Kunduz Province.

Local sources said that her body was transferred to Tajikistan on Monday, 16 March 2026.

The precise motive for the attack remains unclear. The victim, identified as Bano Adalat Hamidi, had spent many years providing healthcare services and maternity care to rural and underprivileged women.

Her efforts to improve maternal and child health conditions had earned her particular respect and popularity among local residents, and she played a significant role in supporting vulnerable women.

Citizens in the area have expressed regret over the incident and called for a swift and transparent investigation into the cause of the killing.

The attack comes at a time when the Taliban have closed many universities and educational institutions to women, restricting them from fundamental rights such as education, employment, and independent living.

Residents have repeatedly called for stronger support for women’s healthcare services across different regions of the country.
