The Taliban Air Force held a military exercise in Panjwai district of Kandahar province, near the border with Pakistan, on Thursday.

The exercise was conducted using Indian-made helicopters donated by the Indian government to the former Afghan government in 2019 and now in the hands of the Taliban army.

The Taliban army base in Kandahar said that during the exercise, hypothetical targets were attacked and the group’s forces conducted operational exercises.

The incident comes as a new round of talks between the Taliban and Pakistan is set to resume in Turkey.

Earlier, after the announcement of the failure of the talks, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif warned of the activities of the Pakistani Taliban in Afghanistan and stressed that the Pakistani army is capable of destroying the Taliban and returning them to their caves.

He added that the Afghan Taliban’s continued support for the Pakistani Taliban could lead to the group’s fall, stressing that Pakistan has the ability to do so without using its own arsenal.
