Taliban Announce Arrest of Planner Behind Attack on Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani.
Taliban-affiliated media reported that one of the planners of the attack on Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani, the former Minister of Refugees and Returnees, has been arrested.
According to the reports, a man named Mir Hamza, known as “Awab” and a resident of Baghlan Province, was identified as the operation’s planner. The Taliban claimed that he played a key role in orchestrating the attack.
In a video of confessions released by the Taliban, Mir Hamza stated that he, along with the main attacker named “Mohammad,” carried out the operation under orders from the ISIS leader. Mir Hamza said he joined ISIS approximately five years ago and received instructions for the attack from a commander named “Usman” in the Balochistan region.
Observers, however, have questioned the accuracy and transparency of the confessions released by the Taliban, suggesting that such televised statements may serve propaganda purposes and require independent verification.
