According to reports from local sources, the Taliban have arrested at least 13 educated youths in Shahr-e-Buzurg district of Badakhshan province, including the head of one of the district’s high schools.

The sources state that the arrests were carried out without any official explanation, and those detained were transferred to Fayzabad, the provincial capital of Badakhshan.

An eyewitness reported that Taliban forces treated the detainees violently and humiliatingly during the arrests.

According to the witness, all those arrested are educated residents of the area and have no affiliation with political or military groups.

The witness emphasized that the individuals were known solely for their civil and educational activities.

Meanwhile, several local sources and civil society activists have expressed serious concern over the situation of the detainees and have called for justice, public awareness, and broader attention to the incident.

They warn that the continuation of arbitrary arrests and harsh treatment of educated youths could have serious social and security consequences in Badakhshan, further deepening fear and mistrust among the local population.
