Taliban bans women without a veil from entering Panjshir.

Local sources in Panjshir say that the Taliban do not allow women without a veil or burqa to enter and move around the province.

According to sources, on Friday, August 8, Taliban army brigade forces stopped vehicles carrying women without headscarves at the Dalansang and Gorgoti checkpoints and prevented them from passing.

Taliban personnel at these checkpoints said they were ordered to allow only women wearing headscarves to pass.

Since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, severe restrictions on women’s clothing have been imposed, as well as widespread pressure on the people of Panjshir.

Despite many women wearing the Islamic headscarf, reports indicate that they continue to face harassment, abuse, and even arrest by Taliban-backed forces in numerous cases.
