Taliban executes flogging sentence on 11 people in Kabul and Faryab.

The Taliban Supreme Court has announced that 11 people were publicly flogged in Kabul and Faryab on Sunday, August 24.

According to the court, in Kabul, nine people were each given between 10 and 39 lashes on charges of buying and selling drugs and alcohol and sentenced to prison terms ranging from seven months to two years.

Also, in Faryab, two people were flogged in public on charges of theft. In addition to receiving 36 lashes, these people were also sentenced to one year in prison.

After returning to power, the Taliban have repeatedly carried out corporal punishment such as flogging in public.

According to a United Nations report, more than 1,000 people in Afghanistan have been flogged in public by this group.

Human rights organizations say that this type of punishment is against international law and the principles of human dignity and call for its immediate cessation.
