Taliban Governor in Khost Orders Border Forces to Be on High Alert.
The office of the Taliban governor in Khost Province has announced that Abdullah Mokhtar, the provincial governor, has ordered border forces to remain on high alert and be prepared for any “potential threat.”
According to the statement, Mokhtar visited border areas near Babrak Tana on Friday and instructed the border forces to carry out their duties with full honesty, precision, and vigilance.
This directive comes amid escalating tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan in recent weeks. Pakistan has closed its border crossings with Afghanistan and repeatedly threatened military action. In response, some Taliban officials have issued sharply worded and threatening statements against Pakistan. Recent talks between the two sides in Turkey ended without progress, leaving little hope for improvement.
Following the failure of the Istanbul peace talks, several explosions occurred in Pakistan, resulting in dozens of casualties. These developments have heightened concerns about potential conflict between the Taliban and Pakistan, with analysts warning that a military confrontation cannot be ruled out.
