Local sources in Jawzjan province confirm that the Taliban have handed over 18 Buzkashi horses belonging to Abdul Rashid Dostum, the leader of the National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan, to his brother, Mohammad Omar Dostum.
According to the sources, the horses were in the hands of the group after the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan and were returned to their owners in Jawzjan province on Sunday, 2025 June 01.
The Taliban described the move as a symbol of “trustworthiness” and “strengthening trust among the people.”
After the Taliban returned to power in Asad 1400, the group seized and confiscated the movable and immovable assets of a number of political figures from the previous government, including houses, offices and vehicles.
Some of the homes of former political figures are reportedly still being used as offices by the Taliban and those close to the group
