Taliban hang a man’s body in central Herat.
Local sources in Herat report that the Taliban put the body of a man on public display in the city center on Friday, August 22.
A picture released from the scene shows a sheet with a slogan against the “Afghanistan Revolutionary Movement” pasted on the body.
According to the sources, the group had recently announced its presence in Herat and claimed responsibility for the killing of a Taliban commander in the province. The Taliban took this action as a warning to their opponents.
Similar cases have been recorded in Herat before. The Taliban have repeatedly displayed the bodies of their armed opponents throughout the city; an action that has provoked widespread reactions among the public and human rights organizations.
