Taliban have made checking young men’s phones and beards a daily routine.
Local sources in Kunduz province say that Taliban forces have arrested three young men simply for having music on their phones,
a move that has raised concerns about the Taliban’s growing interference in citizens’ private lives.
A Kunduz resident said in an audio message sent to the media on Sunday, July 27, that the three young men were arrested in Khan Abad district.
According to him, Taliban officers from the Amr-e-Maruf Department patrol the district daily and conduct inspections to control the clothing, hair, beards, and mobile phone content of young people.
The source emphasizes that the Taliban systematically violates individuals’ privacy by creating an atmosphere of fear and intimidation, and there is no institution to hold accountable for these repressive behaviors.
The Taliban has not yet made an official statement on the matter, but similar cases from different provinces indicate the increasing trend of cultural, social repression and individual freedoms under the rule of this group.
