Taliban Intelligence Arrest Brother and Nephew of Wakil Mirzad After His Killing.
Local sources in Faryab Province report that Taliban intelligence forces have arrested two relatives of Wakil Mirzad. According to the sources, Gul Mohammad Mirzad, his brother, and Zabihullah Mirzad, his nephew, were recently detained by Taliban forces.
The sources say the arrests took place one day earlier, and the reason given was the individuals’ criticism of the Taliban.
They added that the detainees were transferred to an undisclosed location, and no further information about their condition or whereabouts has been made available.
The Taliban have not commented on the arrests. This comes after Wakil Mirzad was killed in the city of Maimana some time ago.
Arrests, killings, and enforced disappearances of influential local figures—particularly in northern provinces have increasingly raised serious concerns in recent months.
