Taliban leaders to be brought to justice

The day of reckoning is near; Taliban leaders to be brought to justice.

Naseer Ahmad Andisha, Afghanistan’s ambassador to Geneva, has announced the intensification of diplomatic and political efforts against the Taliban at the international level and emphasized that important developments await Afghanistan in the next two months.

On Monday, July 28, he announced in a message on the X social network that the process of holding Taliban leaders accountable has begun and that the international community is on the path of serious resistance to this group.

Referring to the activities of Afghanistan’s representation at the United Nations, Andisha mentioned important achievements in exposing the Taliban’s systematic crimes.

According to him, the preparation and presentation of a comprehensive report on the widespread deprivation and discrimination against Afghan women and girls has brought their oppressed voices to the ears of international institutions.

Most importantly, Andisha considered the issuance of arrest warrants for Haibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban leader, and Abdul Hakeem Haqqani, the group’s chief judge, a major step towards global justice.

He described the ICC’s move as a “historic achievement” that could mark the beginning of the end of Taliban criminals’ impunity.

These statements come as the Taliban have been recognized by Russia for the first time in nearly four years;

A move that has been met with strong domestic and foreign reactions. Now, it seems that international pressure is increasing and the “day of reckoning” has arrived for the Taliban leaders.
