Taliban: Pakistani forces attack along Durand Line repelled.

The Taliban’s 201st Eastern Zone Corps said its forces had repelled an attack by Pakistani troops along the hypothetical Durand Line in Kunar and Nangarhar provinces.

The fighting began last night along the “hypothetical border” and is still ongoing, the army said in a statement.

According to the Taliban, the Eastern Zone forces participated in the fighting along with the Islamic Emirate’s border units.

The statement said the fighting was part of a “defensive operation” and that Taliban forces had prevented the advance of the Pakistani army, but did not provide details of casualties on either side.

Local reports had earlier reported clashes between Taliban and Pakistani army in Nari district of Kunar province.

Sources said the exchange of fire between the two sides had intensified after Pakistan’s recent airstrikes on Kabul and Kunar.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s defense minister said on Saturday that relations between Islamabad and the Taliban were deteriorating and urged the Taliban to take action against groups he said were operating against Pakistan from Afghanistan.
