The Taliban Ministry of Defense announced that today at 3:30 p.m., an unmanned aircraft belonging to the Pakistan Army was shot down at Nangarhar airfield.

The Taliban added that the drone was targeted and destroyed while unlawfully entering Afghanistan’s airspace and conducting espionage and reconnaissance activities.

In a statement, the Ministry of Defense said that military forces are on full alert and that any violation of airspace or aggressive action will be met with a response.

The action was described as part of efforts to counter the illegal entry of foreign military equipment into Afghanistan’s airspace.

The incident occurred amid ongoing border tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

In recent years, multiple cases of unauthorized drone entry and airspace violations have been reported, and this new action falls within the context of those tensions.
