Taliban Prevent Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s Travel to Malaysia.
Sources in the Hezb-e-Islami Party have confirmed that the Taliban have opposed the request of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the party’s leader, for a medical trip to Malaysia after a forty-day delay.
According to these sources, the Taliban have told Hekmatyar to seek treatment in Afghanistan and that they will pay for his treatment themselves.
Habib-ur-Rahman Hekmatyar, the son of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, wrote on the social network “X” that despite sending official letters to institutions affiliated with the Islamic Emirate, the Taliban delayed the process of issuing travel permits under various pretexts and ultimately refused to respond.
He added that this decision is a sign of distrust in the Taliban’s promises regarding freedom of political activities.
In recent months, the Taliban have imposed extensive restrictions on the Hezb-e-Islami Party; from closing provincial offices and monitoring Hekmatyar’s visits to preventing his foreign trips.
Previously, there were reports that the Taliban had prevented former Afghan President Hamid Karzai from traveling abroad.
