Taliban publicly flogged eight people in Kabul.
On Sunday (October 5, 2025), the Taliban publicly flogged eight people, including a woman, in Kabul.
The individuals were convicted of “selling drugs” and “running away from home” and were given prison sentences of up to seven years.
The incident follows an increase in corporal punishment in recent months. According to official Taliban statistics, 114 people were flogged in different provinces of the country in September alone.
The United Nations has announced that at least 672 people, including dozens of women, have been subjected to physical torture in different provinces this year.
Human rights organizations consider these actions to be a clear violation of human dignity and a sign of the Taliban’s authoritarian rule.
