Taliban raid on girls in Barchi; violent arrest of teenagers without explanation.
Local sources in Kabul have confirmed that the Taliban’s forces for the promotion of good and prevention of evil violently arrested about five to six teenage girls from a twenty-meter area of Dasht-e-Barchi on Tuesday evening, July 29.
According to the sources, these girls were between 13 and 20 years old and the Taliban, without providing a specific reason, forcibly and intimidally put them in military vehicles and transferred them to an unknown location.
As of the time of writing, Taliban officials have not provided any explanation for the reason for the arrest.
The arrest of girls and women in Kabul by the Taliban’s forces for the promotion of good has become a worrying and systematic trend.
Similar cases were previously reported from the 12th district of Kabul; Events that have been accompanied by a wave of criticism and protests from protesting women, human rights activists and international institutions.
Women’s rights activists consider these actions part of a policy of repression and intimidation of women that not only violates human dignity, but also displays a deeply security-based and patriarchal image of Taliban rule;
where even the presence of girls in public places can be met with violence.
