Following a new call from the Organization of Turkic-speaking States to establish an inclusive government in Afghanistan, the Taliban have ignored the call, calling it an “internal matter.”
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said on Saturday that the “people of Afghanistan” would address the issue.
He is talking about consulting the people while the Taliban government structure remains exclusive, non-elected, and single-group, with no sign of real participation by tribes or women.
The statement from the Organization of Turkic-speaking States emphasizes that the presence of Turkic-speaking people in Afghanistan is a bridge between this country and the Turkic world and should be included in the power structure.
However, the Taliban have ignored all calls for the establishment of an inclusive government and respect for the rights of minorities over the past four years.
The group is accused of establishing a closed, populist government and has also effectively eliminated ethnic, linguistic, and gender diversity in Afghanistan.
The Taliban ostensibly seek diplomatic relations with Turkic-speaking countries, but in practice have responded negatively to their legitimate demands, such as political inclusion and respect for human rights.
