Informed sources say that the Taliban have decided in a meeting at the Ministry of Communications to restrict users’ access to several social networks in Afghanistan.

According to the sources, in the first phase, access to Instagram has been blocked today.

According to the details provided, Snapchat, TikTok and the game PUBG are also on the list of networks and programs that are set to be included in these restrictions soon.

The sources added that Facebook is also likely to face restrictions in the next stages.

In addition, local sources from Kunduz province have reported that during today (Tuesday, October 7, 2025), fiber optic services in this province have been disconnected and reconnected several times by Taliban officials.

Sources from Kandahar also say that the Taliban governor’s aides in Kandahar have ordered internet companies to stop providing commercial internet services in an official meeting.

According to the source, this information has been passed on by telecommunications companies such as Etisalat, Roshan and Afghan Wireless to their business customers.

These developments come at a time when more than a week has passed since the 48-hour nationwide shutdown of telecommunications and internet services in the country, but the Taliban have not yet explained the reason and official order for it.
