Taliban sends clear message to Islamabad by leaning towards India.
Taliban Defense Minister Mohammad Yaqub Mujahid has described Pakistan’s accusations of India’s role in escalating regional tensions as “baseless, illogical and unacceptable.”
According to a report by India Today on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, the Taliban Defense Minister said about relations with Pakistan that Kabul wants to expand relations based on good neighborliness, mutual respect and the development of trade cooperation between the two countries.
According to him, the recent border tensions are not in the interest of either party and should be resolved through dialogue and understanding.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Mr. Mujahid emphasized that the policy of the Islamic Emirate does not allow the use of Afghan soil against any country and that Kabul’s relations with India will remain based on national interests and Afghanistan’s independence of decision-making.
Referring to the upcoming meeting in Turkey, Mr. Mujahid also stated that the main focus of the talks will be the full implementation of the Doha Agreement and its monitoring.
He warned that Pakistan’s failure to adhere to the provisions of the agreement could lead to new problems and called on the mediating countries, including Turkey and Qatar, to play a more active role in ensuring the implementation of the parties’ commitments.
These statements come at a time when tensions along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border have increased, coinciding with the visit of Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi to India.
