Targeted attack in Takhar; The Taliban’s chief of enjoining good was targeted by an explosion.
Local sources in Takhar province reported that an explosion occurred in Khaja Bahauddin district, apparently targeting Maulvi Mahmood, the Taliban’s chief of enjoining good in the district.
The incident occurred around 9 pm on Friday (July 25) and explosions were heard in parts of the district, the sources said.
No further details of Maulvi Mahmoud’s physical condition are available and the number of casualties and damage caused by the blast is still unknown.
The blast comes as attacks against local Taliban figures have increased in recent months, raising fears and concerns among the Taliban.
