The first round of Doha talks between the Taliban and Pakistan has ended.

The first round of talks between senior Afghan and Pakistani officials in Doha, the capital of Qatar, has ended.

The meeting was led by Mullah Yaqub Mujahid, the Taliban’s acting defense minister, and Khawaja Muhammad Asif, the Pakistani defense minister.

Media sources in Pakistan said that the talks were held in a “warm” atmosphere.

According to informed sources, the meeting lasted more than four hours and was initially opened by a Qatari official.

It is said that after the Qatari official’s speech, the two sides discussed and exchanged views on security, border issues and bilateral cooperation.

Unofficial sources claim that the talks did not yield positive results, but so far no official from either side has confirmed the details or results.

The second round of talks is scheduled to resume in Doha on Sunday.
