The Harsh Reality of Murder and Looting Under the Taliban’s “Security” Umbrella.

On the evening of February 11, 2026 , around 8:00 PM, eight armed men raided the home of Mohammad Yunus, son of Mohammad Zaman, in the Khairkhana area of Kabul, just a few steps away from a Taliban checkpoint.

Yunus, who supported his family by running a motorcycle repair business, was brutally killed;

an event that occurred near Taliban forces and sparked widespread concern among local residents.

After the killing, the assailants took $15,000 in cash, along with some gold and jewelry, and left the area without encountering serious resistance.

Local witnesses said the proximity of the checkpoint did not prevent the crime and raised serious questions about the effectiveness of security measures in the capital.

This incident once again highlights the stark gap between official claims of “comprehensive security” and the reality on the ground, raising suspicions of Taliban involvement in such murders and thefts.

While the Taliban consistently claim to maintain security, repeated reports of targeted killings, armed robberies, and even direct shootings at civilians have deepened public distrust.

Additionally, according to some reports and claims circulated in media and social networks, there is a possibility that Taliban-affiliated elements are involved in certain incidents;

a topic previously reported in multiple news items but not yet independently or transparently investigated. These uncertainties have increased public concern and strengthened calls for accountability.
